Pride & Joy Art Print
This painting is a battlecry for new beginnings. It’s about leaving the safety of the harbor, where a ship may be secure but stagnant, and choosing the open sea—uncertain, but full of adventure, growth, and possibility. The palette is hope portrayed in color, with the sunrise breaking through the clouds symbolizing a fresh start. Here, the one who casts off the docklines must release their fear of the unknown and simply breathe, embracing the moment as they set their course with courage.
Those familiar with tall ships may also catch the play on words —I’m proud to be on this journey and full of joyful anticipation, yes. But Pride & Joy is also my first-ever painting of the Pride of Baltimore II, shown departing from her home port.
Art print of the original artwork “Pride & Joy” by Ruth Scego. Prints are available on high-quality fine art paper or canvas. The fine art paper is archival quality with a 0.5” border and a semi-glossy/lustre finish that brings out the color values beautifully. The canvas is 0.75 inches at the frame, stretched, and pre-mounted with a hanging wire.
